BSF Gujarat Frontier IG visits India’s Sir Creek border with Pakistan

Border Security Force(BSF) Gujarat frontier’s Inspector General(IG) Gopalsingh Shekhawat visited border areas of Kutch on Sunday. Gopalsingh arrived at Kutch border via helicopter from Gandhinagar. He visited Lakhpat, Koteshwar, Harami nala and Sir Creek areas. According to sources he checked performance of new Italian all terrain vehicle here.

Earlier in last week Indian Coast Guard chief Anil Chopra also visited border areas of Kutch. Issues like necessity of hover craft parking facility at Jakhau port were discussed during his visit.

Last week Home ministry’s Additional Chief Secretary of Gujarat Balavantsingh and Gujarat’s Principal Secretary, environment and forest, Dr S K Nanda also visited Kutch’s border areas. Balvantsingh camped in Kutch for three days and visited important areas near the international border including Sir Creek. While Nanda visited Kutch’s G pillars and Sir Creek areas. He announced Gujarat government’s plan to undertake mangrove plantation on around 10,000 hectare area near strategically important Koteshwar jointly with Territorial Army (Indian Army’s Eco Task Force) to create an important security cover in the area which shares border with neighboring Pakistan.

Visits of higher officers from police and BSF continued throughout last week in North Gujarat’s Banaskantha district too. Range IG of police VV Rabari convened a meeting with BSF officers in Palanpur. He also visited border areas to monitor security arrangements. He addressed border area villagers and told them to be extra vigilant.
