Minister of state for Home, Amit Shah drove to Surat rape victim’s residence and met the family in Sunday afternoon.

Amit Shah gave details about the police actions and informed the family that the Government of Gujarat is filing an application for provision of fast track court in this case.

Shah told the family that in Patan and Jhaghadiya gang rape cases, justice was delivered to the victims within a year, similar would happen in Surat rape case too.

Amit Shah who arrived in Surat yesterday night in a special plane to cool down the anger of the people also drove to residence of noted poet and writer Bhagwatikumar Sharma who had taken a leadership in a meeting at Adajan auditorium on Saturday to protest the Police commissioner and rapists.

After a meeting with Shah, Bhagwatikumar Sharma said, “Yesterday we had announced one day strike call. But today after a talk with Amit Shah, I am satisfied with the government actions. The culprits were in custody within hours, an application for fast track justice is moved by the government, the Police Commissioner has been transferred within 48 hours. Home minister was in constant touch with the victim’s family from day one. Home minister himself arrived in Surat to meet victim. Most of the organizations have already withdrawn their support to the strike call, but some organizations are still with the call. I urge them not to go on strike, as the police and the government both have taken enough actions.”

It should be noted that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has continued to go with its decision of one day strike call on Monday in Surat.
