Even as Gujarat has become a development model, Chief Minister Narendra Modi today s aid that primary education in the state should also become a model for others to emulate.

He was addressing the concluding function of three-day annual statewide campaign for qualitative improvement in primary education, called ‘Gunotsav-2011’, at Tarapur in Anand district.

He said that Gunotsav-2011 has concluded but the campaign for qualitative improvement of primary education in the state would continue with the help of parents and villagers.

Mr. Modi who visited a 130-year-old boys’ school and 102-year-old girls’ school, himself investigated the basic facilities in the premises, tested the mental and intellectual level of students. He stressed the need for extra-curricular activities also.

Later addressing a meeting of the guardians of the students and villagers, he explained the significance of gradation of schools under ‘Gunotsav’ and stressed the need to raise the ranking to A-grade.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Collector Avantika Singh and District Development Officer K.K. Nirala.

As per the second phase of another campaign, Sadbhavna Mission being held in every district, Chief Minister will observe fast at Rajpipla in Narmada district on Sunday, November 26, 2011.
