With SATCOM and KK on target, Modhwadia rushes to EC

Ahmedabad, 6 October 2012

A delegation of Gujarat Congress led by Gujarat Congress President Arjun Modhwadia today met Gujarat Chief Electoral Officer Anita Karwal and demanded to cancel the state government’s video conference address to Anganwadi women and supervisors.

“Karwal looked into the matter and found that a video conference was scheduled to take place at 12.30 pm by the state govt. She immediately ordered to stop the video conference”, a statement issued by Modhwadia said.

Modhwadia alleged that Anganwadi women were directed to attend the SATCOM video conferences and there was a conspiracy to ask them to join the Chief Minister’s Swami Vivekananda yatra through this video conference.

Mr. Modhwadia alleged that this order was given by Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary K.Kailashnathan.

Modhwadia alleged that K.Kailashnathan supervises the BJP campaign sitting in government office and he should be asked to leave the state during the election period.

What was the video conference about?

A video conference was organized under Mission Balam Sukham. It was about activation of Bal Shaktim Kendras(VCNC) and related preparations. It was organized during 12.30 and 2.30 PM through BISAG. All supervisors and employees of Health and ACDS were asked to attend the video conference by the State Nutrition Cell.

Editor’s remark

Modhwadia was of opinion that this video conference would misused to ask the govt employees to join Shri Modi’s Vivekananda Yatra. But it seems Modhwadia has nothing to prove such claim. It seems he had just apprehension that such and such thing could happen!! The CM was not to address the said video conference. It seems it was a routine government to ground video discussion. Modhwadia alleges that K.Kailashnathan is working for BJP campaign, but he has nothing conrete to support this allegation. Similarly Modhwadia’s allegation that Kailashnathan orchestrated SATCOM conference is without any support. Modhwadia’s claims are fine for just another memorandum, or press statement, but nothing beyond that.
