After nearly three decades of legal battle, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) has today regain hold of an important piece of land in posh Law Garden area in western part of city.
AMC had given town planing scheme no. 3, final plot no 690+691 to Gujarat Horticulture Association(GHA) for twenty years lease in year 1964. The lease period was over in year 1984, but GHA refused to vacate the land and filed COP case against AMC. The verdict was however in favor of AMC, but GHA challenged it in City Civil Court. Today even City Civil Court has favored AMC and slapped Rs 2 lakh penalty to GHA. The court has also rejected GHA’s plea to give time to challenge the decision in High Court.
Following this, AMC’s estate, town planning and west zone staff removed all structures and opened the plot. The plot is reserved plot of AMC.
