Navda-Botad-Budhel pipeline project near completion: Saurashtra to get 59 crore liter extra water supply daily

The Gujarat government today announced that Narmada oriented Navda-Botad/Valbhipur(Budhel) pipeline work is near completion. This is very important pipeline that would supply water to towns of Bhavnagar, Amreli, Rajkot and Jamnagar districts.
It will supply daily 59 crore liter water to urban and rural areas of Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Rajkot and Jamnagar districts.
The pipeline is being laid at a cost of Rs 400 crore. It involves Navda Botad and Navda Valbhipur stretches. The project is planned keeping the needs of water in year 2021 in mind.
It should be mentioned that presently Navda-Botad pipeline caters maximum 200 MLD water to Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Amreli and Rajkot districts. However the state government found that carriage capacity of pipeline and handling capacity of existing pumping machinery should be increased to cater sufficient water to 1132 villages and 32 towns. The govt, therefore approved Rs 400 crore project immediately.
Under the Navda-Botad project, a new pumping station is being set up at Navda, and 77 km long pipeline of 2000 mm radius is being laid from Navda to Budhel. In near future, six pumps with capacity to handle 1749 cubic meter water per hour will distribute 250 mld(25 crore liter daily) water.
In Navda-Budhel(Valbhipur) stretch, 77 km pipeline works are over and six pumps with 2310 cubic meter per hour capacity are all set to supply 33 crore liter water per day.
Overall, the project after its completion will supply 59 crore liter extra water daily to Saurashtra.
