Govt shares figures of urban water supply in Saurashtra

According to Gujarat government’s Water Supply Board member secretary Shri MaheshSinh, Rajkot should get 7.5 crore liter water as per the rule, but it is supplied 15 crore liter water every day. Added to this, 2-3 crore liter more water will be supplied to Rajkot.

Narmada water supplied to urban areas of Saurashtra and Kutch has been doubled to 40 crore liter instead of 20 crore liter earlier.

Jamnagar was supplied 2.5 to 3.00 crore liter water in August-2012. Against this the current figure is 70 MLD. Amreli should get 50 lakh liter water as per the rule, but it is getting 1 crore 50 lakh liter water through Narmada pipeline. Bhavnagar cit gets 2.5 crore liter water through Narmada pipeline in addition to Shetrunji dam supply.

New pumping machinery, 10 tankers and 7 new bore wells are provided to Jetpur city. A new 25 km pipe line has been commissioned connecting Bhadar-2 dam and Jetpur. Narmada water supply has been kicked off to Morbi city through 11 km Narmada pipeline from Timbdi. A new machinery has been installed at Bhadar-2 dam pump house at Dhoraji. 3 new bore wells are activated at Virpur. Gondal was getting 4 crore liter water in last August, but now it gets 10 crore liter water.

More than 150 water storage tanks are arranged at various city areas for water supply schemes.
