Veteran writer Ratilal Anil(94) passes away, Modi condoles death

Surat based Ghazal writer Ratilal Anil ( Ratilal Mulchanddas Rupawala) is no more. Born on 19 February 1919 he was 94 years old. Shri Anil wrote life sketch of Mahatma Gandhi and Indira Gandhi, his one liners were published as Chandarna, Markala, his poetry books are Damro ane Tulsi, Mastini paloma. He wrote his memoir titled as Safarna Sathi-Ghazal sahitya na itihasno dastavej. He was awarded by Gujarat government with journalism award, Sahitya Academy award and Vali Gujarati award.He had worked in Gujarat Samachar, Gujarat Mitra and other newspapers. During the freedom struggle he was jailed for six months with Ravishankar Maharaj, Ganesh Vasudev Mavlankar and others. For 43 years he was editor of Kankavati. He served as Secretary of MahaGujarat Ghazal Mandal for many years.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today expressed deep grief at the death of veteran writer and journalist Ratilal Anil. In his condolence, Mr. Modi said that the late Ratilal Anil would be remembered for his contributions as a front-ranked humour writer. The Chief Minister expressed his sympathy with the bereaved family.
