New Delhi, 5 November 2013

The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) on Tuesday arrested Gujarat BJP MP from Junagadh Dinu Bogha Solanki in Amit Jethwa murder case.

Solanki had to appear before CBI today morning following an order by court. After several hours of questioning he was arrested.

Jethwa was murdered in July 2010. He had been campaigning against illegal mining in the Gir reserve. His family claims that the MP had hatched the conspiracy to kill Jethwa. The Gujarat High court had ordered CBI probe into Amit Jethwa’s murder in September 2012.

Dinu Solanki was earlier questioned by the CBI in connection with Jethwa’s murder case in July 2010. His nephew Shiva Solanki and 5 others have been lodged in jail in the same case. Solanki arrived at the CBI headquarters on Tuesday morning and was questioned by a special team. He had earlier been given a clean chit by the Gujarat Police.

Solanki who was earlier MLA elected from Kodinar constituency in Junagadh district contested Lok Sabha elections in 2009 and won from Junagadh seat defeating rival Congress candidate. Solanki lost charm after he couldn’t ensure victory for party in Kodinar assembly by-polls.
