CM inaugurates Krishi Mela at Khodaldham Krishi Mahakumbh

Inaugurating a huge Krishi Mela at sacred place of khodaldham of Saurashtra Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi made a strong appeal to the Prime Minister to immediately allow buiding gates on Sardar Sarovar dam of river Narmada.
“I appeal to the Prime Minister and leaders of ruling party to allow building gates on Sardar dam rather than just playing politics. If this dam completes, then the credit will be given to all the governments,” Mr. Modi said.
A four-day-long Agro Vision India-2014 is organized by Khodaldham Trust which kick started today at Kagwad. Over 800 national and international stalls have been erected to showcase to the farmers the latest research and technology in the field of farming.
Mr. Modi said,“Gujarat government has encouraged this Krishi Mela. A new experiment for the development of agriculture with the help of ‘Krishi Mahostav’ and various campaigns for water conservation have been initiated by Gujarat to advance in the fields of agriculture.”
Mr. Modi while outlining how the farmers were promised to have electricity twenty years ago said, “the farmers need water not an electricity from the last one decade. Our government has spread out such awareness and also successfully launched various water conservation experiments that led to the development of farming in a right direction.”
Stressing upon to initiate ‘save water’ campaign Mr. Modi said, “Though we have availed water facilities but alongside we also need to encourage drip irrigation system so that each drop of water can rightly serve the production.” He further informed that the farmers have learned to enhance agricultural production even in the smaller scale of land considering its limits. “And with the help of Per Drop More Crop, agricultural production will boost up” he added.
Mr. Modi stated “Working tooth and nail the farmer yields plentiful crops but due to the lack of proper crop conservation facilities of the Centre, it gets rotten and such failing circumstances are prevailing in our country. However, this problem can be solved by storage chains but necessary attention is not given for the same.”
Emphasizing on value added farming, he announced to aware the farmers regarding value added agri production in the conventional farming and also several advanced farming tactics for more agri production. He claimed if the farming gets rich, the villages will become prosperous and so as the economy of the country leading to augmenting the purchasing power of the people. Alongside these, Mr. Modi also outlined about ‘ Statue of Unity’ of iron man Sardar Patel as an inspirational source of farmer’ strength which will become a grand monument of unity in the nation.
Congratulating Khodaldham Trust for its social and national welfare activities and also the donors, Mr. Modi said, “ more than religious or social activities, the organizations do the best when it comes to social services and social strength has always been in our culture that has become our greatest strength to empower our country. This Khodalgam Trust is surely going to be an inspiring source for all the service activities across Gujarat”
Among the present on this occasion include, Revenue Minister Anandi Patel, Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Agriculture Minister Babu Bokhiria, and state ministers including Mr.Govind Patel, Mr. Rajani Patel, Vasuben Trivedi, Mr.Jayanti Kawadiya, Nanu Vanvani and state BJP president R.C. Faldu, MLAs, MPs, former minister Gordhan Zadfia and a large number of farmers and leaders were present.
Highlights of the inaugural function
-Cheif Minister Narendra Modi arrived late in the event due to poor monsoon. Shri Modi’s chopper couldn’t take off due to poor visibility. One TV channel started ‘breaking news’ and told that Modi’s helicopter was stuck. Modi said this sparked off number of phone calls inquiring his status. “Instead of saying that I was stuck, a TV channel could say my helicopter couldn’t take off. This could save me from inquiry calls.”
-In his speech Shri Modi raised the issue of pending permission to erect gates over Narmada dam. He spoke about Sardar’s statue, iron collection drive, social and community strength, water conservation movement and more.
-BJP state general secretary Vijay Rupani and Gujarat Parivartan Party leader Gordhan Zadafia were sitting together at Khodaldham Agro fair stage. Both were discussing something seriously over the stage.
-Vallabh Kathiria, Anandiben Patel, Vasuben Trivedi, Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Dr. Mansukh Mandavia, Jasuben Korat, Bhanuben Babaria, Rakshaben Bolia, Bharat Bodhra, Kantilal Amrutia, Bhikhabhai Vasoya, Laljibhai Savalia, Dhansukh Bhanderi, Officials Rajendra Kumar, Ajay Bhadu, Pravin Sinha, BR Chaudhari were present in the function.
-As Modi’s arrival was late, Gujarati humor artist Dhirubhai Sarvaiya entertained everyone present in the function for about one and half hour.
-Khodaldham trust’s Naresh Patel in his speech admired Narendra Modi for the statue of unity project.
-Chief Minister Narendra Modi felicitated Naresh Patel and Surat’s Gopalbhai Pragjibhai Vastapara who has given Rs. 11 crore 11 lakh 11,111 donation to Khodaldham trust. Vastapara’s entire family was present on this occasion.
-Agri fair is likely to be visited by over three million farmers in five days. Practical exhibition of irrigation has been set up over 4200 square meter land. 700 stalls are set up for exhibition and other purposes. 800 companies are participating in this agri fair. 55% of which are from outside Gujarat. 25 companies from Netherlands and Israel are demonstrating their products. Agri scientists from four agri universities of Gujarat, Maharashtra’s Vasantrao Patil agri uni and Karnatak’s agri uni are present to give their guidance in the fair.
