Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) has approved estimate of Rs. 6.2 crore to install South-Korea style fountain between Sardar bridge and Nehru bridge over river Tapi in Rander zone. The design work for this project has been assigned to California based Fountain source engineering.

Presently similar fountain is functional in South Korean capital city Seoul. It is designed by same California based engineering firm.

A 3.50 meter walkway and waterfall type curtain fountain will be installed next to the lane carriage way between two bridges. A separate water line will be laid to feed these fountains. Rs. 6.12 estimate covers Rs. 1.09 crore for electrical work and Rs. 2.99 crore for water pipe-line.

The SMC meeting held on Saturday also approved Rs. 4.52 crore estimate for a swimming pool of 25×50 meter size in Pal area. The SMC approved a community center and party plot at Althan-Bhatar for Rs. 7.02 crore. The community center will have a large kitchen area, open party plot, a hall with proper stage, parking lot for 180 cars and 540 two-wheelers and underground and overhead water tanks.
