Surat, 28 March 2014
Former Congress MLA Kunvarji Halpati may rejoin Congress, if Congress party agrees to it. Halpati has already held meeting with Congress men in this regard.
Halpati is former Congress MLA from Mandvi in south Gujarat. He left Congress party after denied ticket in December 2012 assembly general elections.
Halpati was hoping to build career in BJP, but his rival in Congress Prabhu Vasava also later joined BJP. Not only this but Vasava was given ticket to contest from Bardoli Lok Sabha seat. Vasava had vacated his own assembly seat to join BJP.
BJP didn’t place Halpati on this seat, but choose a woman candidate.
Halpati is now attempting to rejoin Congress, but Congress at this point doesn’t seem too enthusiastic to welcome him.
