The newly inaugurated Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station in Jammu and Kashmir will be connected to Ahmedabad Railway Station through a new express train.
Railway Minister Sadanand Gowda in his speech after inauguration of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Udhampur Railway Line and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station in Jammu and Kashmir today morning made this announcement.
In his speech Shri Gauda said: The railways has planned to run three pairs of express trains to Katra from New Delhi, Kalka Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Bangalore.
It should be mentioned that every year thousands of Gujarat based pilgrims visit Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir. They mostly prefer to travel in Jammu Tavi Express to reach Jammu. The journey between Jammu and Katra was possible by road. However the new railway station at Katra will make pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi easier.
In his speech Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah asked people of Jammu not to fear due to Katra’s rail connectivity. Omar said once there was no railway in Jammu and people used to terminate their railway journey in Pathankot. When Jammu got railway connectivity, Pathankot lost its relevance. Now people of Jammu fear same with Katra getting railway connectivity. Omar assured people of Jammu that they will not be allowed to adversely affected due to emergence of Katra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also assured same in his speech.
