Accident with buffalo: Spicejet wants AAI to settle Rs. 8 crore damage

Private airline company Spicejet may file police police complaint against the Airport Authority of India for Rs. 8 crore damage to its aircraft due to negligence of AAI.

On 6 November, Spicejet aircraft faced accident with a buffalo during take-off. The aircraft suffered damage on its engine part and it is being repaired at Surat airport for last many days.

For the procedure of approval to its claim, the company needs to file complaint, but if compromise is arrived outside this procedure, the company will stay away from filing complaint.

Meanwhile, Surat MP Darshna Jardosh met Civil Aviation Minister in Delhi and demanded early restart of Boeing plane operations at Surat airport. The ministers said the services will be resumed only after security clearance to Surat airport.

As Spicejet has halted its operations on Surat airport following accident, the local MP in her representation before union ministers demanded that existing Air India flight connecting Surat to Delhi should be operated on daily basis.

Surat MP demanded speedy clearance to intra-state air service which is going to be launched on 22 December. She also demanded approval to a private airline company headquartered in Surat which wants to launch its air services from 1st December.

In another development, The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry has demanded that Surat should get air service to Mumbai.
