Gujarat govt to introduce Campus Wide Area Network linking all govt colleges

Gujarat Government has initiated an ambitious project of interlinking the all the Government run colleges and other institutions with the Campus Wide Area Network(CWAN) and interlinking it with the central office in Gandhinagar. It will not only help in better control over the college management but also increase overall teaching quality in the government run colleges.

State Technical Education department has initiated this project and likely to activate throughout the state by the next academic year(around June 2015).

Under the project a specialize network installations will be made in every college under which all the departments will be interlinked with their central administration wing and the central administration wing will be linked with state Technical Education Commissioner office in Gandhinagar alongwith link with other colleges and the universities.

At present the process of Installation, Commissioning and Configuration of the Network Wireless Controller / Access has been initiated. New Wireless Network Management system will be installed to manage the entire campus Infrastructure through Wireless controller.

CWAN will give flexibility and ease of adding new services or features (Data, Voice, Video, Wireless etc.).

A new CCTV network installation project has also been initiated along with the CWAN which will help in the real time monitoring of the students and teaching and other staff from Gandhinagar which may increase actual academic work in the government colleges in coming days.
