IFSC contribution to GDP 12% in Dubai, 20% in Japan: Adhia

“Entire scenario of GIFT city will change now. It’s a breakthrough event in evolution of GIFT today,” said Hasmukh Adhia, Financial Services Secretary, Ministry of Finance of Government of India, speaking at International Finance Service Centre launching function in Gandhinagar.

Adhia said, “Dubai International Finance Center was conceptualized in year 2004. It’s a very small area, but it is contributing to 12 % GDP of Dubai.”

He further said, “20% of total GDP of Japan comes from Financial Services. It’s a big quantum. 10% employment of Japan is from this sector.”

Adhia said GIFT city if the project for which the land was given in 2011 and SEZ permission was obtained same year. This is the project for which foundation stone was laid by current Prime Minister. And this is the project inaugurated by him.

Adhia said, Prime Minister instructed the Finance Ministry that we should put this project on track.
