White lioness ‘Gayatri’ has given birth to four cubs in Rajkot Municipal Corporation(RMC) run Pradyuman Park zoo.
Six months ago on November 19, the zoo administration had brought two tigress Yashodhara and Gayatri and one tiger Divakar from Bhilai zoo in exchange of a pair of lion. On 8 May, tigress Yashodhara gave birth to two cubs. One of them died due to injury when mother Yashodhara tried to carry it by gripping her mouth. Another cub faced injury due to similar reason. After this, the zoo administration separated cub from mother and gave artificial support for survival.
Yesterday morning, another tigress Gayatri gave birth to four cubs. Total number of white tigers in this zoo has increased from three to eight now.
All cubs and mother are kept under CCTV observation.
