Anandiben lays foundation for Rs 517-crore water supply project

As part of the two-day celebrations to commemorate the completion of her first year in power, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today laid the foundation stone of a water supply project in Meghraj town of Aravalli district.
The project worth Rs 517 crore is aimed at providing water to 501 villages and three cities of tribal district of Aravalli, stated an official press release.
Patel, through a tweet claimed that the project will be completed within 18 months. She also thanked the people of Gujarat for support.
“As I complete one year in the service of Gujarat as it’s CM, I thank everyone for the unflinching support,” She tweeted.
Two subsequent tweets read – “In tribal district Aravalli of N.Guj, laid foundation stone of water supply proj providing Narmada waters to 501 villages of 5 talukas and 3 cities”.
“Based on Vatrak and Mazum water reservoir, this water supply project worth Rs 517 crore will be completed in coming 18 months”.
While addressing locals, Patel reaffirmed that her government is committed to provide drinking water to each and every household through a comprehensive water supply project based on bulk pipeline network.
She said her government had spent Rs 13,767 crore on several projects related to water supply in different parts of state during last 15 years.
Out of these, multi-purpose projects worth Rs 4,000 crore to provide drinking water to 6500 villages and 128 towns have been implemented during her one year tenure alone, stated the release.
She also reiterated her government’s commitment to build toilets in each and every house of Gujarat within next two years through public partnership.
