Steering Committee constituted to expediate Bhadbhut Barrage Project

To control tide-induced salinity ingress and erosion of Narmada river banks in downstream of Narmada Railway bridge, the Government of Gujarat has decided to construct a barrage across river Narmada near village Bhadbhutt in Bharuch district. Approximate project cost is around Rs.5000 crore.

The Government of has constituted the “Steering Committee for Bhadbhut Barrage Project’’ under Chairpersonship of Advisor to Chief Minister for expedite the project execution in the Public Private Partnership(PPP) mode.

The steering committee will monitor implementation of the Government policies and directives for Bhadbhut project. It will approve and monitor the overall activities proposed to be undertaken by the project authorities and progress of work in order to complete the project within stipulated time limit. The committee take policy decisions as and when required for timely completion of the project. It will guide the government in adopting suitable strategies of Public Private Partnership(PPP) for the project.

The project has got the environment clearance and the state government is in the last stage of finding the private partner to implement this ambitious project.
