RS Prasad lists out some innovative ‘IT for people’ initiatives by GoI(Video)

Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in his briefing to media after completing one year in office listed out several innovative digital e-initiatives taken by the Government of India so far:

-Digital locker, people can save their documents. 1.24 lakh people have registered.

-14 projects under E-Kranti programme.

-Khoya Paya website to report missing/sighted children.

-National Scholarship Portal to claim all kinds of scholarships online.

-Jivan Pramanam: Pensioners don’t need to go to govt office every year in November to prove they are medically alive. It can be done digitally.

-E-Basta: All school books available for download for students.

-E-hospital: Patients don’t need to come and stand in long queue at AIIMS. With their Adhar number they can take online appointment of doctor and get date and time. It’s about registration of patients in far flung areas.

-MyGov has 9.9 lakh users. They provide inputs to government on various issues.

-E-Sign.

-Collaborative network for inter-department interaction within the government.

-E-mall

-National super computing mission. There’s only Param super computer in India. Prime Minister has directed that India must be self reliant when it comes to super computers. Rs 4,500 crore project intends to make 70 super computers to make India a global hub of super computers.

-Soon Community Health Centers will get e-health consultation through Apollo hospital.

-Open source software: One who supplies software to government will need to make it open source.

-Facility to make your computer virus-free through online solution.

-BPO policy: Rural BPO scheme to make BPO set up possible in small centers. The programme is population connected. UP, Bihar, MP to get highest benefit. The idea is to have BPOs in small towns. North East will have 5,000 seats.

-Electronics manufacturing for Make in India. Centre encouraging the state govts. 25% to be contributed by centre under modified incentive scheme. Clusters number up from 8 to 21 in one year. Proposals up from worth Rs 1152 crore to worth Rs 9545 crore in year.
