Union Minister Inaugurates Gujarat Khadi Utsav in Delhi

Union Minister for MSME Shri Kalraj Mishra inaugurated GUJARAT KHADI UTSAV”, Exhibition of Khadi products from Gujarat under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme here today, the Union minister said that such programmes should be organized in other states also as they encourage local art and culture.

An exclusive exhibition of Khadi products from Gujarat and ready-made as well as Khadi Patch Mirror work of Kutch-Bhuj are available for sale in this exhibition. In addition wood craft, Designer, footwear, Kutch Embroidery, Organic products, Herbal Products, food Products, and Handicraft Items are also on display. As a part of Khadi sales promotion, 20% discount on all Khadi fabric & Readymade is being offered to the customers during this period. Up to 60% discount is also available on selected Khadi items for stock clearance.

The exhibition will continue up to 30th September, 2015.

Appreciating efforts of Khadi Bhavan The minister stated that KVIC has become a center of cultural unity of the country.

The Minister further added that this will bring in more sustainability and viability to the Khadi institutions and micro enterprises working across the country. He also said that there has been positive change in the minds of youth after organizing Khadi Utsavs in Universities and colleges. A tremendous increase in the sale of Khadi has been noted after Prime Minister’s appeal in his show “ Man- ki- Baat”. He also mentioned that KVIC is planning to launch franchise scheme to promote marketing of Khadi products.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Giriraj Singh, Minister of State for MSME said that Khadi and PMEGP will be a mile stone for creating employment among the youth. KVIC will provide skill development which will create employment. Shri Arun Kumar Jha, C.E.O. & Commissioner, KVIC informed media that products manufactured in Gujarat such as ready-made Khadi Patch Mirror work of Kutch-Bhuj, wood craft, footwear, Kutch Embroidery, Organic products, Herbal Products, food Products and Handicraft Items of Gujarat are available for sale.

Dr. Anup K. Pujari, Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of MSME, Shri S. N. Tripathi, Additional Secretary, Shri B. H. Anil Kumar, Joint Secretary (ARI), Shri Bharat Lal, Resident Commissioner of Government of Gujarat, senior officers of the ministry and KVIC, representatives of institutions, representatives of Gujarat Samaj of National Capital etc. were also present on the occasion.
