Gujarat Govt relaxes upper age limit by five years for govt posts

Gandhinagar

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today announced five years’ relaxation in all categories of candidates applying for various administrative posts in the government in phase-1 under the Mukhya Mantri Yuva Swavlamban Yojna.

The announcement for increasing the upper age limit for all the categories will open up the opportunity for candidates for all classes in competitive examinations, including General, SC, ST, OBC and Women candidates.

The maximum age limit has been increased by five years as per the notification by the General Administrative Department’s on October 6, 2015 with amendment in the relevant Gujarat Mulki Vargikrana Ane Bharti (Samanya) Niyamo of 1967, Rule 8(9) and (10) for direct recruitment.

For instance, the earlier age limit for graduates as the qualification is increased from 30 to 35 years and for under qualified from 28 to 33 years.

The fresh relaxation of five years will also apply for posts with provision for experience, over and above educational qualification – in case of the maximum age limit be it 28 years or 30 years – after incorporating necessary changes in the employment rules.

The Chief Minister, as part of this gesture, clarified that this relaxation would also apply to posts advertised earlier but still having time for last date of application.

This is part of the State Government’s initiative to strengthen the administration by filling up the short fall in various posts under the ‘Ten Years’ Employment Calendar’.

The decision would create a great opportunity for more youth applying for jobs through competitive examinations, at the same time making the examination more competitive.
