Breakthrough in BJP leaders double murder, ATS nabs 3, reportedly sizes weapon of attack

Ahmedabad/Bharuch

The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Gujarat Police has made breakthrough in the sensational murder of the two leaders of the ruling BJP in Bharuch earlier this month and has reportedly nabbed three people in this connection.

The ATS is also said to have recovered the weapon used to commit the crime while those nabbed reportedly include the sharpshooter who killed the duo.

Bharuch SP Shoba Butada confirmed the breakthrough but refused to divulge details saying it would be revealed by the ATS higher ups during a media briefing in Ahmedabad.

Mr. Shirish Bangali (60), the former district president of BJP and lPragnesh Mistry (34), the local general secretary of the BJYM, the youth wing of the BJP, were shot dead by unknown assailants in the evening of November 2 while they were sitting near the former’s private office cum printing press in Panch Batti locality in Shevashram road of Bharuch town.. The assailants had covered their faces with handkerchiefs.

The ATS was brought in to the investigation to assist the police and the local crime branch in the sensational double murder.

The police, which had even announced Rs five lakh reward for information in the case recently, was clueless in the case.
