Ahmedabad-London first direct flight’s inauguration (Video)

Ahmedabad-London via Mumbai direct flight was launched today. Civil Aviation Minister of Gujarat Saurabh Patel gave boarding passes to passengers of first flight at the airport. Patel in his speech on this occasion said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government has add facilities to travelers by starting this flight which shall connect Gujarati people to the world. He said the Ahmedabad airport is one of the busiest airports of India with operation of 70 flights daily including 10 international flight. He said Gujarat has highest 16% growth in tourism sector in India, and this new service will give it further boost.

– There are more than 6 lakh Indians from Gujarat in Britain.
– For the first flight, Air India has got bookings of around 180 passengers from Ahmedabad.
– Passengers traveling by the direct flight will not need to change aircraft at Mumbai.
– A one-way ticket to London is Rs 22,000, nearly Rs 6,000 less than what other airlines charge, said Anil Mehta, executive director, Air India.
– The Dreamliner B787 plane has been used for this service.
– This is the fifth such flight from India to London. The AI currently operates 3 flights on Delhi-London and one flight on the Mumbai-London route.
– Custom and Immigration process for direct flight travelers will be conducted at Ahmedabad airport.
– By January end, the flight is likely to be converted into non-stop direct flight from Ahmedabad to London.
