Vadodara – Mumbai Expressway project delayed due to opposition of land owners

According to Shri Pon. Radhakrishnan, Minister of State int he Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, following the the latest status of Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway project:

The project is proposed to be taken up in 3 Phases and the Status of land acquisition is as under:

– Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway Phase I : km 104.700 (Vadodara) to km 378.722 (Talasari)

Total area of land required is 3205 Hectare for which notification under section 3(a) of NH Act 1956 is already published. Out of 3205 Hectare, notification for 3128 Hectare (97.61%) area of land is published under section 3(A) of NH Act 1956 and notification for 2118 Hectare (66%) area of land is published under section 3(D) of NH Act 1956.

– Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway Phase II: km 26.32 to km 104.700 (Main Exp.) & SPUR to JNPT (km 0.000 to km 94.390)

Total area of land required is 2172 Hectare for which notification under section 3(a) of NH Act 1956 is already published. Out of 2172 Hectare, notification for 457.86 Hectare (21%) area of land is published under section 3(A) of NH Act 1956 and Notification under section 3(D) of NH Act 1956 is under process.

– Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway Phase III : km 0.00 to km 26.32 NH-8

Total area of land required is 279 Hectare for which notification under section 3(a) of NH Act 1956 is already published and notification under section 3(A) of NH Act 1956 is under process.

The Feasibility Study and pre-construction activities for Vadodara Mumbai Expressway is in process.

The project would be taken up after completion of land acquisition. At present land acquisition process is delayed due to opposition of land owners in Gujarat especially in Navasari, Valsad districts and also in Palghar & Thane districts in Maharashtra. In view of this, date of start & completion cannot be indicated at this stage.
