On the last day public meeting of BJP for Choryashi by-poll campaign

Choryashi, Surat

It was the last day of campaign for Choryashi assembly seat by-poll scheduled to take place on Thursday this week. Just before the deadline of campaign which was 5.00 pm, state Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and other BJP leaders addressed a public meeting as part of campaign in support of party candidate Zankhana Patel who is daughter of late sitting BJP MLA Rajabhai Patel who died last August due to dengue in Mumbai based hospital.

Navsari MP CR Patil in his speech said, Congress candidate Dhansukh Rajput has lost twice, once against me and another time against Narottambhai Patel. He is contesting to do hat tric of defeat. Victory in this by-election is sure, but we have to work to ensure that Congress candidate lose his deposit.

BJP Candidate Zankhana Patel, daughter of late sitting MLA Raja Patel started her speech by mistakenly calling Chief Minister Anandiben Patel as Prime Minister. She then read out her speech very briefly. She was in fact struggling to deliver her speech and complete each sentence.

BJP leader Bharatsinh Parmar said, there were many BJP workers who sought ticket to contest this seat but each of them was of opinion that if party gives ticket to any family member of Rajabhai, they would support him/her to pay tribute to Rajabhai. Parmar said BJP candidate Zankhana Patel is not just daughter of late Rajabhai, but daughter of entire Surat city. He pointed out that this election is also important as it will give further strength to Chief Minister. Parmar said this election has to be won by margin of over 1 lakh votes. It will give great satisfaction to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who always worries about Gujarat whenever he happens to meet our MPs elected from Gujarat. Parmar said Congress candidate who lost election twice on Congress ticket in the past told party leaders that he was ready to contest this bypoll only if party was ready to pay him all election expenses, otherwise he was not ready to waste his money once again. Parmar said Congress thinks it has got life again by winning rural votes in recently concluded district panchayat polls, but I want to say that BJP lost by margin of only 4-5%, and if you convert the seats into assembly segments, BJP is ahead. Congress must know that BJP is going to rule Gujarat for another 25 years. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi travels across the world to correct the image of India which was damaged by previous government led by Congress. He said Congress is not in picture in this election, and there’s perception that one seat would not make any difference to Gandhinagar. Such wave must not result into poor voting. Party workers need to come out in big number to ensure that voting is high and we achieve best margin of victory.

Chief Minister Anandiben Patel said late Rajabhai started his political career by becoming Sarpanch and he later became taluka and district panchayat member before becoming MLA. Tuesday is allotted to elected representatives in Gandhinagar Secretariat. There was not a single Tuesday when Rajabhai had not paid visit for the cause of developments in his constituency area. Rajabhai had managed to get approval for Rs 67 crore road works in his constituency. Chief Minister said Choryashi assembly seat area has witnessed over Rs 1200 crore development works through Surat Municipal Corporation in last five years.

Chief Minister as usual spoke in detail about her toilet initiative. She said MEGA company which is building metro rail network in Ahmedabad has been granted permit to make Detailed Project Report(DPR) for metro rail in Surat. She said by 2030 the state will have 60% urbanization. She said it’s difficult for a woman to achieve victory against gents on general seat. Anandiben praised non-Gujarat population in Choryashi seat area which according to her has mixed well with local people in Gujarat.

Party leader Purnesh Modi described Surat city as mini-India and asked non-Gujarati leaders from local unit of party to felicitate the Chief Minister.

Polling for Choryashi seat will be held on Thursday.
