Gandhinagar and Surat railway station development projects move forward

Indian Railways has taken up two projects of building railway stations of international standards in Gujarat.

According to Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited(IRSDCL), a Joint Venture of IRCON & Rail Land Development Authority, a draft Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) is in the process of finalisation for integrated development of ‘Multi Model Transport Hub’ in Surat in association with the Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) and Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation(GSRTC). Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat convened a meeting of all stakeholders in capital Gandhinagar on 18 March for this project.

For Gandhinagar project, Expression of Interest (EOI) for development of Gandhinagar Railway station together with 300/400 Room Hotel on the Air space right of the Station and operation and management of Mahatama Mandir & Exhibition Centre has been sought from the interested parties. The last date for submission of applications is 22.4.2016.

“Attention developers: Indian Railways in association with Government of Gujarat offers a unique opportunity to develop railway station along with 300/450 room hotel and air space right of station combined with operation and maintenance(O&M) of State-of-art Mahatma Mandir and Exhibition Center at Gandhinagar, Gujarat,” an advertisement of Indian Railways reads.

The last date of submission of Expression of Interest is 22nd April. Pre application conferences are held at General Manager, Western Railway office in Mumbai on 4th April and Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar on 11th April.

According to IRSDCL, Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat convened a meeting of all stakeholders at Gandhi Nagar on 18.3.2016 and reviewed the status of this project for which draft MoU is under approval of the Authority.
