Fire in the Chiripal Group spinning mill not controlled yet, might take whole night

A major fire broke out in the spinning mill of Ahmedabad based Chiripal Group, situated in Saijpur-Gopalpur on Pirana road in Piplej which has thus far caused the damage of property to the tune of crores of rupees and is likely to take several more hours to be doused.
No loss of life has been reported so far.
Additional Chief Fire Officer Rajesh Bhatt said that the fire fighting operation with six fire fighting vehicles, 22 water tankers and one hydraulic platform was likely to continue the whole night.
‘It has spread to all the three departments of the spinning mill and has so far caused extensive damage to the tune of crores. As there is still highly inflammable chemicals, raw materials, gasoline etc in the affected area which has less scope of ousting of smoke and heat thus caused, the fire fighting will go on for longer duration,’ he said adding that so far no loss of life has been reported.
He said that the reason that triggered the fire was not yet known however it seems that it was caused owing to the mixing of clothes with oil in a section of the mill. ‘Its a major fire. The operation will continue the whole night,’ he said.
Earlier a distress call at around 4 50 pm was received by the fire control office here and the whole team rushed to the spot immediately. The fire, as per the initial information received was caused by the accidental mixing of oil and clothes.
Chiripal Group, started in 1972 as a manufacturer of fabric under the leadership of Mr. Ved Prakash Chiripal, has over the years grown into a vertically integrated enterprise having manufacturing facilities for POY, Texturising, Cotton Spinning, Denim Weaving, Knitting and Processing, Home Furnishing, Garmenting and BOPP Films.
