Fire at Chiripal spinning mill finally doused after almost 24 hours long operation

The major fire in the spinning mill of Ahmedabad based Chiripal Group, situated in Saijpur-Gopalpur on Pirana road in Piplej has finally been doused after almost 24 hours long operation and is likely to take three to four more hours for cooling process to complete.
A large part of the mill including its raw material department, finished good section, inflammable chemicals store, machinery and building property has been completely damaged by the fire which broke out at around 0450 pm yesterday, Additional Chief Fire Officer Rajesh Bhatt said adding that though the actual loss could be estimated at a later stage but as per the initial estimates it was of crores of rupees.
The Fire Officer said that though no loss of life has been reported in the incident or during the fire fighting operation, one employee of the mill was injured today as an RCC slab fell down. ‘He sustained only minor injuries,’ he said.
He said that the reason that triggered the fire was not yet known however it seems that it was caused owing to the mixing of clothes with oil in a section of the mill. ‘Its was a major fire. The operation continued the whole night and later in the day today. It is almost complete now and we would wind up in next three to fore hours after completion of cooling,’ he said.
Earlier a distress call at around 4 50 pm yesterday was received by the fire control office here and the whole team rushed to the spot immediately.
Chiripal Group, started in 1972 as a manufacturer of fabric under the leadership of Mr. Ved Prakash Chiripal, has over the years grown into a vertically integrated enterprise having manufacturing facilities for POY, Texturising, Cotton Spinning, Denim Weaving, Knitting and Processing, Home Furnishing, Garmenting and BOPP Films.
