Gujarat awarded for highest number of Concentrated Solar Technology projects

Gujarat govt has received award for its achievement in the area of Concentrated Solar Technology(CST) and solar cooker.
The award was given by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy at New Delhi. Minister Piyush Goyal presented the award to Gujarat Energy Development Agency(GEDA) Director J.T. Akhani.
Through the usage of CST, solar rays can be focused to achieve 100-350 degree C temperature. Water can be converted to steam or Thermic fluid can be boiled at high temperature to use in educational complexes, hotels, engineering/automobile/chemical/pharma/food processing/paper industry/textile etc industries.
CST is also used for purposes like community kitchen, air conditioning process, sterilization, hot water distillation in boiler, bleach drying etc.
Gujarat was selected for two special awards. CST was one category in which Gujarat stood first with 41 projects. The other award was presented in category 2 for installation of CST in maximum area which is 6775 sqm.
