Uncertainty over college admissions, Gujarat govt likely to move SC on Monday

Gandhinagar: Entire centralized admissiion process by ACPC has been suspended due to the recent order by Gujarat High Court scraping the state government notification regarding 10% reservation to Economically Weaker Section(EWS). Over 30,000 admissions in degree courses, similar number of admissions in diploma courses are already given while process for pharmacy and other 16 courses was on. The entire processhas been suspended by ACPC after the High Court order. It is not clear what would happen to those who have got admission under Economically Weaker Section provision popularly known as EBC. The Gujarat government has already stated that it is going to challenge the High Court order in Supreme Court. It is learnt that minister Nitinbhai Patel yesterday held a meeting with Advocate General Kamabhai Trivedi, Additional Advocate General Prakash Jani and officials of education department for speedy resolution of EBC issue. Government is likely to move Supreme Court on Monday in this regard.
