Narmada water inflow initiated into dams of Saurashtra, overflow when PM comes on 30th: Rupani

Rajkot: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today said that the task to fill Narmada water in 10 dams of Saurashtra region has been initiated and by the time the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will be here to inaugurate the first phase of SAUNI project, the dam will be overflowing.

Rupani in reference to Rajkot Mayor’s speech said it is true that though there has been good rain, the dams are still empty. We want to resolve this issue not just for drinking water but also for irrigation water too. On 30th of August the Prime Minister will be here to inaugurate the first phaes of SAUNI project under which 10 dams are to be filled with Narmada water. The process of filling water has been already initiated and by the time the Prime Minister will be here on 30th August, you will see water overflowing from the dam. It will be a golden day for Saruashtra region. In total 115 dams are to be linked and filled with Narmad water eventually. Lakhs of cusec water from Narmada dam which otherwise travel to sea every monsoon will be diverted to Saurashtra through Rs 12,000 crore SAUNI project.

Rupani was speaking in Rajkot today while speaking at inauguration of new auditorium which he named after Pramukh Swami who passed away this month on 13th.
