Hindus in Fatepura area of Vadodara to observe bandh

Vadodara: Locals in Fatepura area of Vadodara are going to observe bandh today against atrocity by hardliners from particular community in this locality. The anger is high among local Hindus after recent attack on Joshi brothers. Locals say hardliners want Hindus to vacate their houses in this communally sensitive locality, and this is the motive behind frequent harassment to Hindus.

In their memorandum submitted to city police commissioner, a group of local Hindus said Kunal Joshi and Sunil Joshi were attacked on 3 November at Fatepura cross roads by hardliners.

Local complained that instead of catching to culprits, the State Reserve Police(SRP) staff deployed here allowed culprits to leave the place.

Locals said they have installed as many as 12 CCTV cameras on their own as the area is communally sensitive. This is in adition to cameras installed by police. Joshi brothers are key persons behind CCTV drive which is not acceptable to other community. The attackers damaged CCTV cameras which indicate their motives clearly.

Meanwhile police has arrested one Shoeb Dhobi in this case. Shoeb has been sent to two days remand by court. Police is in search of key accused Liyakat Ali Saiyad, Basid Ali Saiyad, Akbar Ali Saiyad, Feroze weldingvalo, Mamu Rickshawvalo, Sabir Badshan, Jamir Kadar Sikvala among others.

As per locals Liyakat was bursting crackers with others on 1st November night near Fatepura cross roads. Sunil Joshi and his brother Krunal asked them not to burst crackers there. On this issue, Joshis were attacked on 3rd November.
