Gujarat Assembly passes Town Planning and Urban Development amendment bill

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Town Planning and Urban Development(Amendment) bll was passed today by Gujarat assembly. As per this bill, 18-month limit to complete town planning schemes has been lifted by amending Gujarat Town Planning and Urban Development Adhiniyam, 1976 11/2014 section 51.
Moving the bill in the house, minister of state for urban development Shankarbhai Chaudhary said Gujarat had 736 town plans between 1960 and 2000. 358 more town plans happened during 2000-2010 while by 2020 there will be approximately 600 town plans.
Chaudhary said there was an approach for 50-200 hectare siz town plans but now it has scaled up to 400-2000 hectare.
Speaking about future plans, Chaudhary said there’s TP scheme plan for 75 meter wide and 37 km long new ring road in Rajkot development plan linked to 37 sq km area town planning scheme. There’s a plan for 93.53 hectare new racecourse smart city in Rajkot.
There’s a comprehensive plan for about 1600 hectare size TP scheme in Surat Dream City and surrounding area. There’s a plan for 60 meter wide and 63 km long roads in Surat development plan, while 90 meter wide 66 km roads are also under planning along with 120 meter wide 79 km long roads.
There’s 1853 hectare plan to develop new Gandhinagar in GUDA area.
Chaudhary said these all plans will attract investment and need will arise for 500-2000 hectare town planning schemes.
