Rs 1355 crore spent in 2 years on Ahmedabad Metro Rail project; 6 km stretch to be ready by end of 2017

Gandhinagar: Whip of opposition Congress party in Gujarat Assembly and Siddhpur MLA, Balwantsinh Rajput today said the government has spent Rs 1355 crore for Rs 10,773 crore Ahmedabad Metro Rail project in past two years but 70% works of this project are yet to be completed.

Balwantsinh said he has obtained this detail from Urban development minister Nitin Patel in reply to his question.

The reply of minister according to Rajput shared detail that 20.436 km Thaltej-Vastral east-west corridor, works for 6 km Vastral – Apparel Park stretch will complete by the end of 2017.

In two years total Rs 1354.64 crore expenditure has been made on this project including Rs 407.78 crore in 2015 and Rs 846.96 crore in 2016, said Rajput quoting minister’s reply to him.

Rajput raised question that while BJP government had earlier announced completion of metro rail project by the end of year 2018, the fact is that 70% works are pending just in phase-1, and project report is not ready for phase-2. In view of this, how the project is likely to be completed even in 2020!
