March 04, 2017
Bharuch: About 25% work of new Narmada Maiya bridge over river Narmada has been completed in Bharuch according to those associated with the project. The new bridge will provide alternative to 138 years old Golden bridge nearby which connects Ankleshwar and Bharuch twin towns across the river. Rs 309 crore Narmada Maiya bridge works were launched in December 2015 by then Chief Minister. Ranjit Buildcon is the company that has been awarded the works for this new bridge which is likely to complete in year 2019. The bridge will have service roads on both sides. It will end at College road on Bharuch side. There will be flyover at Kasak circle and a road connecting to Shital circle. New bridge will be 4 meter taller from river bed compared to existing Golden bridge in order to keep it away from Narmada river water level during flood.
