Khadi sell gets boost after introduced as uniform in ONGC, Gujarat schools

Ahmedabad: Speaking in Ahmedabad today the chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission Shri VK Saxena said Rs 7 crore worth of Khadi has been sold in last two months due to Oil and Natural Gas Corporation(ONGC)’s decision to introduce Khadi in uniform.
He said, the department of Education, Government of Gujarat has taken a decision to introduce Khadi uniform in schools of three talukas. Thanks to this move, post October-2016 Rs 3.20 crore Khadi has been sold in Chotila taluka for 4,200 pairs of uniform. In Jetpur and Jamkandorna talukas, 15,000 students were given 30,000 uniforms of Khadi worth Rs 2.80 crore.
Saxena said Gujarat produced Rs 48 crore Khadi, Rs 68 crore Polyester Khadi, Rs 3 crore wolen Khadi and Rs 7 crore silk khadi in year 2015-16.
State Education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama was felicitated on this occassion for making appeal to wear Khadi every Tuesday in schools.
