Surat beats railway stations of Mumbai, Vadodara in revenue from platform tickets

Surat: Believe it or not but Surat railway station has left behind the railway stations in Mumbai and Vadodara when it comet to revenue from platform ticket.

Surat is the second largest city of Gujarat. It is also one of the fastest growing cities.

Between April 2015 and March 2016 Surat railway station witnessed revenue of Rs 4.11 crore which was highest among all railway divisions of Western Railway.

Vadodara stood second in Mumbai and Vadodara divisions wth Rs 1.30 crore sell of platform tickets, followed by Bandra Terminus with Rs 1.19 crore, Bombay Central Rs 63.51lakh and Borivali Rs 59.74 lakh.

Even in the period of April 2016 to February 2017, Surat railway station witnessed highest platform ticket revenue of Rs 3.70 crore followed by Vadodara Rs 1.18 crore, Bandra Rs 98 lakh, Bombay Central Rs 53 lakh and Borivali Rs 48.42 lakh.

Meanwhile, the rate of platform ticket in summer vacation period between 1st April and 30th June this year will be Rs 20 instead of normal rate of Rs 10. Even rail fair of some local trains to nearest station like Panoli, Navsari, Kim etc will be lower than Rs 20 platform ticket.
