EVM’s can’t be tampered en-mass – Shukla, Director (IT) of ECI in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Director of Information Technology wing (Director-IT) of the Election Commission of India V N Shukla today ruled out any possibility of mass tampering of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) to get favourable results for any particular party in any election.
Shukla is leading a 4 member team of the ECI, which is on visit to Gujarat in connection with routine preparatory exercise in the wake of the assembly polls due to be held by December this year.
He said that tampering of EVM’s in the way being alleged was not possible. He also informed that the exercise to purchase new EVM’s on large scale owing to the expiry of the life cycle of many old ones was also on the anvil.
Notably, EVM’s from India are also sent to various other countries for use in elections there.
Meanwhile, the ECI team under its Director (IT) is holding meetings including the one with District Election Officers. The team is imparting IT related information useful for various poll activities.
