6.5 km route of Ahmdabad Metro Rail to be operational in September/October: Gujarat CM

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today reviewed the ongoing works of Ahmdabad Metro rail project in east Ahmedabad area of Vastral.

Rupani said the first 6.5 km stretch of metro rail will be in operation in September/October this year(on trial run basis) between Vastral and Apparel Park.

Rupani said land acquisition related tasks are nearly completed to further speed up the project.

‘All pending approvals are cleared after BJP government came to power in Delhi under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi. Generally, railways would give permission only to build unde bridge or over bridge, but in the case of Ahmedabad Metro, we are using railway land on both sides of railway track for Ashram Road route. This has become possible only due to Prime Minister Shri Modi,’ Rupani said.

Rupani said the entire project is going on with safety parameters that are approved by French firm Systra. They check the design and give safety approval after which we proceed the work.

Finance for the project is contributed by JICA of Japan, he said.

Rupani said, a Detail Project Report(DPR) making process is going on for Surat Metro rail project. DPR will be ready in a month or so after which paper work, finance etc processes will start.

Rupani said he would visit all major projects of Gujarat in upcoming days starting from Ahmedabad Metro project today and Rs 600 crore Chavad-Porbandar water project tomorrow.

‘I want to visit the site locations of all major projects in order to ensure that they are completed speedily,’ Rupani said.
