Senior most Gujarat IPS Geetha Johri becomes incharge State Police chief

Gandhinagar: The senior most Director General of Police (DGP) Geetha Johri was appointed in-charge police chief of Gujarat today. The minister of state for home Pradeepsinh Jadeja announced the decision and said that Johri as the senior-most IPS officer in the state has been given the additional charge as per a decision taken by the Chief Minister. Jadeja admired Johri for her good record in State police force.

Johri will replace 1980 batch IPS PP Pandey who resigned three days ago in connection with a case in Supreme Court. Johri is going to take charge of her additional charge today itself.

Speaking to media persons over her appointment Johri said, “I will take the charge immediately. I will be the first woman DGP of Gujarat today. My priority will be women’s issue. They can come to me for whatever issue they are facing. Gujarat has good law and order situation and I will maintain it. My duty is to see that peaceful Gujarat stay peaceful.”

Johri is 1982-batch Indian Police Service(IPS) officer. She is presently holding the office of managing director of Gujarat Police Housing Corporation in capital Gandhinagar. She has been on number of important posts in Gujarat Police including the city police commissioner of Rajkot.
