AMC launches e-waste collection centers, van and mobile app

Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) today launched e-waste mobile application and e-waste collection van in partnership with ECS Environment Pvt. Ltd.
The AMC announced launching of e-waste collection centers at specified civic centers in six zones: East zone – Viratnagar, West zone – Usmanpura and Law Garden, North zone – MEMCO, South zone – Maninagar, Central zone – Danapith and Relief road, New West zone – Bodakdev.
This is first of its kind of initiatives taken by any municipal corporation in India.
Citizens will be able to discharge e-waste at above listed collection centers, or alternatively they can call e-waste collection van at their door-step by using mobile application or dialing a mobile number 8980005006. Citizens can also access the related link on www.ahmedabadcity.gov.in to call e-waste collection van.
This e-waste initiative will keep resources generated locally within the city. It will help to prevent pollution. AMC’s responsibility under e-waste management rules – 2016 will be fulfilled. E-waste will not merge to solid waste generated in the city anymore.
