Ahmedabad city Congress excludes Shankersinh’s photo in its banners

Ahmedabad: Even in his absence, Shankersinh Vaghela continued to be in the center of political discussion in Gujarat today. The Ahmedabad city and district unit of Congress party had put up a banner outside the State party headquarters Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan here welcoming state Congress incharge and All India Congress Committee(AICC) general secretary Ashok Gehlot whose three-day Gujarat visit started today. Conventionally, State party president and Leader of opposition in the assembly are considered two parallel top posts in State Congress. However in this particular banner which was also put up at several other places across the city, Shankersinh’s photo was absent. When inquired by media persons, State party president Bharatsinh Solanki who was at Circuit house to meet Gehlot didn’t choose to react. Gehlot when asked in his reply said there was no factionalism in State Congress. Gehlot who arrived at Ahmedabad railway station in train said he would meet party leaders during his three-day visit to Gujarat. Gehlot said he would also meet Shankersinh and hold detailed talk with him regarding the news in circulation about him. Gehlot said Shankersinh was traveling abroad but he was in contact with him. Meanwhile in response to the news regarding Shankersinh’s absence in party banner, another big hoarding was put up inside the State headquarters campus in which Shankersinh’s photo was present.
