Palanpur to get Rs 113.62 crore new GSRTC bus port, bhoomi pujan performed

Palanpur: District headquarters Palanpur in North Gujarat will get a grand new bus port, ground breaking for which was performed today. The bus port will be built through public private partnership(PPP) as per design, built, finance, operate and transfer(DBFOT) model.

A 29,472 sqm piece of land will have 12,025 sqm construction of bus terminal. 2,130 sq m area will house departmental office and welfare centre. 6,103 sqm area has been allocated to depot manager/staff quarters. 26,640 sq m will be commercial construction area.

The bus terminal will be constructed at estimated cost of Rs 37.82 crore. The total cost of project will be Rs 113.62 crore. Expected concession fee will be Rs 22 crore. 25 platforms, 150 sqm PA system, inquiry, reservation ticketing office, tourist information centre, 25 sqm clock room, 50 sqm administrative office, 50 sqm parcel and store room, 100 sqm rest room, 50 seat general sitting arrangement, 25 seat ladies sitting area, 925 sqm canteen, restaurant, retail, kiosk, 15 tap water room, 100 sqm dormitory, ladies and gents urinals and bathrooms.

The bus port will have circulation area, landscaping, digital display, CCTV surveillance system, variable message sign boards, retain super market, food court/plaza, multiplex, gaming zone, commercial offices, two wheeler/four wheeler, basement parking, show-room, budgeted hotel etc facility too.

MoS Vallabhbhai Kapadia in his address on this occasion said daily 23 lakh passengers travel in 7,000 GSRTC buses. 82% passengers prefer to travel in sleeper buses while 80% prefer Volvo buses. The government has built 6 iconic bus port while works for 14 others are in progress. 1600 new buses were added last year to GSRTC fleet. Equal number of new buses are to be added this year too.
