Wild leopard that killed 3 caged animals in Junagadh zoo after scaling its wall finally caught

Junagadh: The wild female leopard, which had entered the British era Sakkarbaug Zoological Garden (Sakkarbaug Zoo) by scaling its wall twice recently killing in all three animals including a black buck, has finally been caged and caught.
The around 2 to 3 year old leopardess for the nearby Girnar forests was trapped in one of the around 10 cages kept by zoo adminstration and the forest department men to trap it, in and around the zoo, which is among th oldest and largest zoos in India spread in an area of over 450 acres.
It had first jumped in to the zoo premises on June 27 and attacked and killed two Chinkaras and later fled. It again killed a black buck during its second venture in to the zoo within a week.
Veterinary Doctor of the zoo R F Kadivar today said that the killed animals were living in their closure in the Safari park section of the zoo situated in its rear side from where the wild big cat used to made entry scaling the wall. The leopard was trapped in the cage yesterday.
It has been sent to animal care center in Sasan Gir, he added.
