Maruti Suzuki to set up Institute of Driver Training and Research in Rajkot

Rajkot: Maruti Suzuki will set up an Institute of Driver Training and Research (IDTR) in Rajkot. This will be the second such facility in Gujarat by Maruti after the earlier one in Waghodia in Central Gujarat.
The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government’s transport department and the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC)
While the department of transport, Government of Gujarat will contribute a piece of 64,000 square metres land near Rajkot, the Central government arm ONGC will fund the construction work including the construction of a driving track. Maruti will offer test vehicles, simulators, around 20 trainers for 45-day training course in this non-profit centre which shall have capacity to train over 25,000 people each year.
The project may take next 20 months to materialize. Maruti operates six such IDTRs across the nation.
