No talk with high-command yet, no plans to visit Delhi before July 21 event- Vaghela’s office

Gandhinagar:

Amid speculations about ‘call for leader of opposition Shankersinh Vaghela from Congress high-command’ and his possible trip to the national capital before his ‘Sam-Samvedana’ meeting on his birthday July 21 in town hall here, his office has denied any talk with high-command recently and also any immediate plan to visit Delhi to meet party president Sonia Gandhi or vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

Media Coordinator of Vaghela, Nikhil Desai today said that so far there was no plan to visit Delhi and meet the high-command before the July 21 event.

‘Bapu (Vaghela) has neither called the high-command nor received a call from there recently. He is on a trip to North Gujarat for some events and has no plan to visit New Delhi before July 21 as of now,’ Desai said.

A close aide of Vaghela who was with him in Radhanpur today also confirmed that he had neither talked to the high-command nor planned to visit Delhi to meet the top leadership.

To a query regarding the change in venue of the Birthday function, Desai said that though on the face of it, the earlier venue Mahatma Mandir has been denied owing to the ongoing renovation work yet it seemed a half truth of sorts.

‘We have learnt that Mahatma Mandir so far has never been allotted for personal events or political functions, which might be the main reason,’ Desai said.

Notably, Vaghela during a press meet yesterday had said that he would made an important announcement during the event on July 21. After that a team of senior Congress leaders led by former president Siddharth Patel had met him and gave him ultimatum of sorts to not to indulge in activities which harm the party image. Patel had later claimed that Vaghela had told him that he would talk to the high command in the night.

Speculations were again on about what could be the important announcement of Vaghela. It is being said that he might float a new party again.
