Siddharth Patel appointed campaign committee head for Gujarat polls

Ahmedabad: Opposition Congress party has appointed former state unit chief Siddharth Patel as campaign committee head for upcoming assembly elections likely to be held in the month of December this year. Siddharth Patel is son of late Chief Minister Chimanbhai Patel. He is foreign educated soft spoken person who lost assembly election on Dabhoi seat in Central Gujarat. In 2012 assembly polls, then leader of opposition Shankersinh Vaghela was appointed as head of campaign committee. Vaghela has left Congress party recently.

The party has appointed Rajya Sabha MP Madhusudan Mistry as head of manifesto committee. Left leaning party leader who was originally associated with foreign organization OXFAM is one of only two member of parliament from Congress who represent Gujarat. Deepak Babaria and Gaurav Pandya are appointed convener of this committee under the chairmanship of Mistry.

Congress has also given responsibility of election coordination committee for urban areas to former state unit chief Naresh Rawal.

Responsibility of election related publicity and material has been handed over to former state unit chief and Ahmed Patel confidant Arjun Modhwadia as Chairman with Dr Vijay Dave as convener.

Responsibility of election media committee has been assigned to former leader of opposition and party’s national spokesperson Shantisinh Gohil who is also MLA from Abdada constituency in Kutch. While Gohil has been appointed Chairman of this committee, Himanshu Vyas has been appointed its convener.
