31 MLAs elected by margin of less than 5,000 votes; Congress 16, BJP 15

Gandhinagar: There are 31 assembly seats where margin of victory/loss was less than 5,000 votes in year 2017 Gujarat assembly general elections. In previous general election of Gujarat in year 2012, the number of such seats was 35 while in 2002 and 2007 general elections in Gujarat, the number of such seats was 48 each.

16 candidates of Congress party won their seats within margin of 5,000 votes against rival BJP candidates.

Dhanera candidate Nathabhai Patel won by margin of 2093 votes, Diodar – Shiva Bhuriya 972 votes, Modasa – Rajendrasinh Thakor 2000 votes, Mansa Suresh Patel 524 votes, Bapunagar Himmatsinh Patel 3067 votes, Dasada – Naushad Solanki 3728 votes, Wankaner – Mohammad Pirzada 1361 votes, Jamjodhpur – Chirag Kalaria 2518 votes, Una – Punja Vansh 4928 votes, Talaja – Kalu Baraiya 1779 votes, Sojitra – Punam Parmar 2388 votes, Chhota Udepur – Mohansinh Rathwa – 1093 votes, Jetpur – Sukhram Rathwa 3053 votes, Karjan – Akshay Patel 3564 votes, Dang – Mangal Gavit 768 votes, Kaprada – Jitu Chaudhary 170 votes.

15 candidates of BJP won election by margin of 5,000 votes or lesser. They are;
