Nitinbhai is on ‘Satyagraha’, says former BJP minister Narottam Patel after meeting him

Ahmedabad: Former minister Narottambhai Patel today reached Nitin Patel’s residence in Thaltej area of Ahmedabad. Narottam Patel after meeting Nitin Patel told media persons that Nitinbhai was on Satyagraha by not joining his office in Gandhinagar.

Narottam Patel said: ‘Nitinbhai is our deputy chief minister and he and Vijaybhai are in tangle over sharing of power. Nitinbhai is aggrieved due to portfolio issue. I have been minister for 17 years and MLA for 5 years. I have worked with Nitinbhai for years. Looking at his strength he was to get either CM or Dy CM post. Party decided the post of Dy CM for him and he accepted it and worked for the party. But this time when portfolios were shared, Nitinbhai was deprived of Urban Development minister. Nitinbhai has developed the urban areas and party has come to power through huge support in urban areas. Nitinbhai has thus contributed greatly to BJP victory in Gujarat. Nitinbhai obviously could have wish to get urban development and finance ministry. Nitinbhai is not common minister. He is Deputy Chief Minister. He is one who forms policy. There’s no great difference between the posts of Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. He should be given his favorite portfolios. If after three-four hours of discussion he was not given his choice of portfolios, it’s injustice to him. He has not joined the office. This is like Satyagraha on his part and his point is valid. If Nitinbhai is aggrieved it’s big loss to BJP. BJP should handle this matter and prevent damage to state unit. There are large number of supporters and well wishers of Nitinbhai. Party should take care of this matter.’
